#870 They called me Thecacoris stenopetala, also known as Thecacoris batesii. I pay homage to the male botanist John Mallory Bates. They first catalogued me in 1866.

Native to Cameroon, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Guinea, Gulf of Guinea Is., Liberia, and Sierra Leone.

I pay homage to the male botanists William Withering, Czetz (I couldn’t find his records), Petermann (I couldn’t find his records), Krull (I couldn’t find his records), and Charles Noyes Forbes, Edward Forbes, or Henry Ogg Forbes. They first catalogued me in 1753.
