I pay homage to the male botanists Naumann (I couldn’t find his records), and James Edward Smith, Johannes Jacobus Smith, Winifred Smith, Christo Albertyn Smith, Charles Piper Smith, Gerard Edwards Smith, Gilbert Morgan Smith, Henry George Smith, Hamilton Lanphere Smith, Albert Charles Smith, Alan Reid Smith, or William Wright Smith. They first catalogued me in 1934.

Native to Bismarck Archipelago, Jawa, Kazan-retto, Lesser Sunda Is., Maluku, Marianas, New Guinea, Ogasawara-shoto, Philippines, Queensland, Samoa, Solomon Is., Sulawesi, and Vanuatu.

I pay homage to the male botanists Georg Friedrich Kaulfuss, Hugh Cuming, Schoggers (I couldn’t find his records), and James Cook, or Ian O. Cook. They first catalogued me in 1828.
