Sporobolus africanus

#135 They called me Sporobolus africanus, also known as Sporobolus batesii. I pay homage to the male botanist John Mallory Bates. They first catalogued me in 1955.

Native to Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Provinces, Ethiopia, Free State, Gulf of Guinea Is., Kenya, KwaZulu-Natal, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Northern Provinces, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Yemen, Zambia, Zaïre, and Zimbabwe.
