#868 They called me Carex montana, also known as Carex witheringii, Carex czetzii, Carex montana subsp. czetzii, Carex praecox f. petermannii, Carex krullii, and Carex forbesii. I pay homage to the male botanists William Withering, Czetz (I couldn’t find his records), Petermann (I couldn’t find his records), Krull (I couldn’t find his records), and Charles Noyes Forbes, Edward Forbes, or Henry Ogg Forbes. They first catalogued me in 1753.

Native to Austria, Baltic States, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Central European Rus, Corse, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, East European Russia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, New York, North Caucasus, Northwest European R, Poland, Romania, South European Russi, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, West Siberia, and Yugoslavia.

I pay homage to the male botanists Heuffel (I couldn’t find his records), Pál Kitaibel, and Manfred Wolff. They first catalogued me in 1866.
