I pay homage to the male botanist Cecil Rollo Payton Andrews, Charles William Andrews, Ebenezer Baldwin Andrews, George W. Andrews, Henry Nathaniel Andrews, Albert LeRoy Andrews, or Henry Cranke Andrews. They first catalogued me in 1782.

Native to Bolivia, Brazil North, Brazil Northeast, Brazil Southeast, Brazil West-Central, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Panamá, Paraguay, Suriname, Trinidad-Tobago, and Venezuela.
