#564 They called me Galanthus elwesii, also known as Chianthemum elwesii, Galanthus gracilis subsp. baytopii, Galanthus elwesii subsp. wagenitzii, Galanthus elwesii subsp. baytopii, Galanthus elewesii, Galanthus elwesii subsp. yayintaschii, and Galanthus elwesii subsp. akmanii. I pay homage to the male botanists Henry John Elwes, Baytop (I couldn’t find his records), Wagenitz (I couldn’t find his records), Elewes (I couldn’t find his records), Yayintasch (I couldn’t find his records), and Akman (I couldn’t find his records). They first catalogued me in 1875.

Native to Albania, Bulgaria, East Aegean Is., Greece, Turkey, Ukraine, and Yugoslavia.
