I pay homage to the male botanists Stuckert (I couldn’t find his records), Asplund (I couldn’t find his records), and Karl Marie Max Kurtz, or Fritz (Federico) Kurtz. They first catalogued me in 1792.

Native to Argentina Northeast, Argentina Northwest, Argentina South, Bolivia, Brazil South, Brazil Southeast, Chile North, Chile South, Juan Fernández Is., Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay.
