#397 They called me Juniperus chinensis, also known as Juniperus thunbergii, Juniperus shepherdii, Juniperus sheppardii, Juniperus gaussenii, Juniperus chinensis var. gaussenii, and Juniperus jacobii. I pay homage to the male botanists Carl Peter Thunberg, George John Shepherd, Sheppard (I couldn’t find his records), Henri Marcel Gaussen, and Jacob (I couldn’t find his records). They first catalogued me in 1767.

Native to China North-Central, China South-Central, China Southeast, Inner Mongolia, Japan, Khabarovsk, Korea, Kuril Is., Manchuria, Myanmar, Primorye, Sakhalin, and Taiwan.

#390 They called me Diospyros pilosanthera, also known as Diospyros hiernii, Diospyros pilosanthera var. nurii, and Diospyros moonii. I pay homage to the male botanists William Philip Hiern, Nur (I couldn’t find his records), and Alexander Moon. They first catalogued me in 1837.

Native to Andaman Is., Borneo, Cambodia, Malaya, Maluku, Myanmar, Nicobar Is., Philippines, Sulawesi, Sumatera, Thailand, and Vietnam.
