I pay homage to the male botanists William Griffith, Dillwyn (I couldn’t find his records), and Hermann Kurz, Holger Willibald Kurz, Wilhelm Sulpiz Kurz, or Albert Kurz. They first catalogued me in 1891.

Native to Andaman Is., Assam, Bangladesh, Borneo, Cambodia, East Himalaya, Laos, Malaya, Maluku, Myanmar, Nepal, New Guinea, Nicobar Is., Philippines, Sulawesi, Sumatera, Thailand, and Vietnam.
