#571 They called me Aegilops speltoides, also known as Triticum tournefortii, and Agropyron tournefortii. I pay homage to the male botanist Joseph Pitton de Tournefort. They first catalogued me in 1837.

Native to Bulgaria, Greece, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon-Syria, Palestine, Transcaucasus, Turkey, and Turkey-in-Europe.

I pay homage to the male botanists Henry John Elwes, Baytop (I couldn’t find his records), Wagenitz (I couldn’t find his records), Elewes (I couldn’t find his records), Yayintasch (I couldn’t find his records), and Akman (I couldn’t find his records). They first catalogued me in 1875.
