I pay homage to the male botanists Jens Wilken Hornemann, and Carl Friedrich Schmidt, Ernst Johannes Schmidt, Eduard Oscar Schmidt, Wilhelm Ludwig Ewald Schmidt, or Wilhelm Schmidt. They first catalogued me in 1838.
