Trichosanthes cucumerina

#261 They called me Trichosanthes cucumerina, also known as Trichosanthes ambrozii, and Gymnopetalum wightii. I pay homage to the male botanists Josef Ambroz, and Robert Wight, or William Franklin Wight. They first catalogued me in 1753.

Native to Assam, Bangladesh, China South-Central, China Southeast, East Himalaya, India, Jawa, Laccadive Is., Lesser Sunda Is., Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Northern Territory, Pakistan, Philippines, Queensland, Sri Lanka, Sulawesi, Thailand, Vietnam, West Himalaya, and Western Australia.
