I pay homage to the male botanists Thonning (I couldn’t find his records), Elmer Drew Merrill, Kersting (I couldn’t find his records), and Charles Noyes Forbes, Edward Forbes, or Henry Ogg Forbes. They first catalogued me in 1818.
