#321 They called me Melastoma malabathricum, also known as Osbeckia royenii, Melastoma banksii, Melastoma holmanii, and Melastoma royenii. I pay homage to the male botanists Royen (I couldn’t find his records), Holman (I couldn’t find his records), and Joseph Banks, or Harlan Parker Banks. They first catalogued me in 1753.
