I pay homage to the male botanists Birkinshaw (I couldn’t find his records), Rhor (I couldn’t find his records), Benedict John Pollard, Morrill (I couldn’t find his records), Warwick Harris, or Wayne K. Harris, and Heinrich Wilhelm Schott, Heinrich Schott, Anton Schott, or Arthur Carl Victor Schott. They first catalogued me in 1763.

Native to Aruba, Brazil Northeast, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, French Guiana, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Mexican Pacific Is., Mexico Central, Mexico Gulf, Mexico Northeast, Mexico Northwest, Mexico Southeast, Mexico Southwest, Netherlands Antilles, Nicaragua, Southwest Caribbean, Suriname, Venezuela, and Venezuelan Antilles.
